The museum is located in the center of Dilijan, next to the Aghstev River. The last resident of the house was Hovhannes Sharambeyan, on whose initiative the building was turned into a museum of folk art. In 1979, Hovhannes Sharambeyan donated his collection to the Dilijan Museum of Folk Art, replenishing the museum's fund. Traveling to different parts of Armenia, Sharambeyan has created a large collection of copper household items. The museum presents works of modern Armenian folk masters, self-creators, exhibits of ethnographic value, household items - carpets, rugs. The museum has 9 halls, a balcony, which also serves as an exhibition. The museum's fund consists of 847 exhibits, of which 547 are on display. The museum fund is formed by various exhibits of applied arts obtained from donations.
