Alternative cuisine with Gohar

Hi. My name is Gohar and I am from Armenia. You might have heard about my country or might not but to describe it with one word - we are a country of dreamers. Some might not agree but there are so many examples that can prove my theory.

This is a unique time that we are leaving now, as all of us in the world have the same concern and we all have one thing on our minds. Can you imagine 7.8 billion people having the same thoughts? Well, that’s a lot of energy of course. This is something unprecedented and we have to cherish this time having in mind the fact that we- humans are still human and we care for each other by doing the best we can which is – staying home. Being a hero has never been this easy so why don’t we just use that opportunity, take that chance and become a hero?

Well, this was too much introduction, I guess. But what I want to say is that staying home opens so many doors for us and this sounds a bit paradoxical, I know. I couldn’t believe myself. It all started very stressfully. I lost my opportunity of having a good job and for the first time after a very long time we’ve come together with my family. As we say in Armenia; “One head is good, two are better”. Ours are four.

I am very passionate about the culinary and I am passionate about food as well. So we decided that people should know about the culinary traditions of our village first and then we can enlarge our geography. And then we gathered the team which is not very big but is very devoted and productive. They say “Do not do business with your relatives”, but they don’t say anything about family members. So our team is my sister, my brother, my Mom, our friend Gevorg- the camera man and me. So you can imagine- we have team meetings all day long and it never gets boring. We started shooting videos and posting them on YouTube where I cook and also explain what I cook and how I do that and why and some other interesting facts. There are some things that we still work on but we are also sure that the experience will come with time. Our You Tube channel has about 500 followers now but we hope that in the near(est) future the number will grow and many people will get familiar with our culture and also the traditions that we have.

A very good friend of mine once told me; “When you are given a chance for something, an offer, first say YES and then think how you will do that, even if you are not sure or you think that you are not ready”. So we said our YES and we opened the door for new opportunities and we hope that we maybe might serve as a motivation for someone else and if you feel down or depressed just remember that there are so many people out there who love you and who are there for you and care for you.
