• The great Armenian poet Hovhannes Tumanyan's paternal house was turned into a house-museum in Dsegh village of Lori region in 1939.
• The museum gives a best view of 19th century Armenian rural life.
• The museum preserves about 300 valuable exhibits representing the life and work of the great writer.
• A bust of a writer is placed in the yard, a chapel is built, where the heart of the poet is summed up.

The museum has two floors and consists of six rooms. On the first floor there is a bakery, a large room, where Tumanyan's cradle, everyday items of the 19th century, such as a fireplace, a pulley, etc. are displayed. On the first floor are the two exhibition halls, where the exhibits tell the story of Tumanyan's genealogy, his parents, his years of study in Tbilisi (Georgia), Jalaloghli, the writer's literary and social activities. The two halls on the second floor display the poet's bed, desk and other personal items.

Who is Hovhannes Tumanyan?

Hovhannes Tadosi Tumanyan (February 19, 1869, Dsegh), Armenian poet, prose writer, literary, national and public figure. He wrote poems, quatrains, ballads, short stories and tales, critical and publicist articles, made translations, create the "Sasuntsi Davit" branch of the "Sasna Tsrer" epic. He is considered a great Armenian poet.
